What is reiki? Or should I say what is energy healing? Let us try to remember the science taught to us in school? Everything is energy, solids, liquids, gases are made up of the smallest known atoms and atoms are energy.So this entire universe is energy and undoubtedly this universe is divine energy. There is some power that plans for sunrise and sunset, some energy that knows when the moon needs to appear in the sky. Some energy that is responsible for this huge and complicated machinery called body to run on its own with thousands of processes happening inside the body automatically, the food getting digested and the blood flowing and the breath coming in and going out. Wow is the feeling when we look up in the blue sky with thousands of tiny little creatures called birds who know where to get food, how to take care of their children.All of it is a game plan of this divine or universal energy, we are calling it reiki others call it with different names like the Japanese chi and the Chinese ki etc.This is reiki and we learn how to become the pipes or the channels through which this universal energy can flow freely for healing self and others.What is it that stays with you till you stay in this world? Not necessarily husband, wife or kids!!! The one and only breath. Is breath the oxygen or O2 as the science calls it or is there something more to it!!!! No matter how many oxygen cylinders you stuff into the people who are dead, they don't wake up. On the other hand, no matter a person whose brain is dead is in comma for years, his breath is on, so he is acclaimed as alive!!!!We have been hearing since ages that god resides in all living beings. Breath is a part of all living beings, it cannot get damaged, it is involuntary that is not in our control. One fine minute we cannot decide not to breathe and still stay alive!!! If there exists one visible and kinaesthetic manifestation of god, it is the breath! So we may say that being aware of the breath means being aware of the god or the power or the omnipresent.A beautiful combination of using this breath and the universal energy to cure yourself and others of the physical, mental and emotional diseases, that leads to better health, wellbeing and relationships.
